Fujikura’s high-quality optical recoater is designed to overcoat the primary coating of an optical fiber, preventing a rigid splice joint. For applications requiring flexible fibers after splicing, high strength, and high reliability—such as softer coatings for gyroscope splices or low-index coatings—Fujikura’s new series of recoaters provides an excellent solution. 

The new recoater series includes multiple upgrades, including an improved pump system that reduces coating material injection time by over 50%. The glass mold design has also been modified and optimized. 

While still utilizing quartz glass, the new mold design improves both pump time and coating length accuracy, particularly for longer coatings. The mold also features a unique RFID function, allowing the FSR series to automatically limit selectable coatings based on the installed mold size and other coating parameters. This makes it ideal for both production and development applications.
